DESCRIPTION:We have grappled with the concept of ‘spirituality.’ In this seminar we take on the concept of ‘P/pagan.’ What does the word mean to you? How do you define or explain being Pagan\, or a Pagan? Is it more complex than that? More widespread? DESCRIPTION:Carl Jung said much about death and dying\, in this seminar we will consider his assertion that every person “ought to have a myth about death\, for reason shows [one] nothing but the dark pit into which he is descending.” What is a myth about death? Do we acquire it? Create it? Why? How? What does death look like to you? \nWe will explore our feelings of fear\, and/or comfort with death. We will wonder about the death culture we grew up with\, and the one we practice now. Metaphors around the concepts of death\, dying and the afterlife will be examined and parsed. DESCRIPTION:Controversial scholarship in recent decades makes the case for hidden traditions of worship that have existed for thousands of millennia\, sometimes dissipating\, sometimes repressed\, but ever-returning. Some call this The Religion With No Name\, and a key component is the use of hallucinogenic organic material to prepare a sacrament that transports its devotees to see beyond this mortal coil\, meeting with spirits and ancestors. Advanced chemical analyses have detected evidence of this as far back as Gobekli Tepi\, Catal Hoyuk\, Eleusis\, and even into early Christian rituals. \nAs curious Druid seekers\, we sought and discovered many similar clues in the vast lore we study that suggest this technique was also used by Celts who trained in mystery teachings. She’s also the author of some of the scariest novels every committed to paper\, including The Haunting of Hill House\, We Have Always Lived in the Castle and many others. \nBut where did she get her ideas? What was her inner life like? Join Rowan to explore some hints from her life and work that she may have been a witch before witchcraft was cool. \nRowan is very fond of asking odd questions about the history and practice of witchcraft\, and this is one of those classes. She was an English major in college\, and was hoping to figure out how to read books for a living. That didn’t work out\, and she figured out another way to support herself. But reading remains her first love. Join her to explore the biography and work of an author who may have also been a witch at heart. \nThis class is free to supporting members of Ardantane.  Others must register below. DESCRIPTION:The 2022 edition of the Witch’s Toolkit covers four subjects\, starting on August 9. \nAugust 9: Planting a Magickal Garden – Rowan \nAll gardens are magickal.  Learn how to bring out the magick in your garden by creatigng a nature spirits sanctuary\, researching native plants for magickal and healing properties\, communing with plant devas and more from Rowan\, who has been working on her own magickal garden for more than 20 years. \nRowan has been involved in the Pagan/Wiccan community in northern New Mexico since 1986. She has been designing rituals and facilitating groups and classes since long before she knew what she was doing. A third degree initiate in the Ladywoods tradition\, she has taught Magick and Witchcraft extensively at Ardantane\, Merry Meet\, Pagan Spirit Gathering (PSG)\, Magickal Mountian Mabon and Dragonfest. Rowan currently serves as the Registrar and a contributor to the Ardantane Herald (email newsletter)\, in addition to being the Dean of the School of Magick and Witchcraft. She holds a BS in Education and an MBA.
