To modern Pagans accustomed to meeting in living rooms or backyards\, they often seem vast and otherworldly.  We will explore temples from the first known\, Gobekli Tepe in Anatolia\, to the Wat Samphran Dragon Temple\, the London Mithraeum\, a Norse God House\, and many more. Some of Ardantane’s very best\, most experienced faculty will share techniques for creating great learning experiences. Among many topics: Where to Begin Class Design; The Importance of Hooks; Teaching to Three Levels of Self\, Participatory and Experiential Learning Activities; Sensing and Using Energy; Working with Visual\, Auditory\, and Kinesthetic Learners; Beyond Knowledge to Skills and Attitudes\, and Behaviors; and much\, much more. Led by Amber K\, who spent her career as a trainer for many government agencies and corporate entities\, she always aims to make courses fun\, student-centered\, and informative. \nThis is an all day program\, starting at 9AM and ending at 5PM. with a break for lunch. \nOne past student said\, “I have a Master’s in Teaching\, but learned more from this class about HOW to teach than I ever did in school!” \nREGISTER BELOW. DESCRIPTION:What is sacred jewelry? Where do I find it? Can I make my own? Can I assign a piece I buy or already own as sacred? Sterling will introduce her class to the wonderful\, colorful\, and free form world of sacred jewelry making. Topics covered will include defining what is sacred jewelry\, how and where to acquire materials or ready-made pieces\, simple steps in crafting your own jewelry\, and the consecration of your sacred pieces. The class will end with show and tell\, so please ‘bring: a piece or two of jewelry you hold near and dear to you. You may even want to have a drawing pad and colored pencils on hand to scratch out your design ideas. Please join Sterling and the Ardantane gang for a creative and crafty look into spirituality! \nTracey Speyrer\, aka Sterling\, is a member of Our Lady of the Woods (OLW) in White Rock\, New Mexico. Sterling grew up with an eclectic spiritual mother who encouraged her exploration of different religious views and their programs. She self dedicated to the Wiccan tradition in 1996 while leading a very private pagan life. Wiccan philosophy best fit her spiritual needs. In 2021\, Sterling found OLW through their Wicca 101 class. Currently\, she has achieved First Degree. \nSterling has a BA in Psychology for the University of Colorado Denver and a MS in Occupational Health and Safety from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. She also has extensive Master’s work in cognitive behavior\, addiction recovery and psychological counseling. Currently\, Sterling is a Health Physicist at Los Alamos National Laboratory. She has worked within the Department of Energy (DOE) complex\, at five major sites across the county\, for 41 years at various jobs supporting nuclear weapons production. \nAside from studying and practicing Wicca\, Sterling is an accomplished horticulturalist with credentials from the American Rose Society (judge and consulting rosarian). She is an active amateur musician\, playing piccolo\, flute and alto flute with the Los Alamos Symphony Orchestra\, The Los Alamos Community Winds\, and leads the merry group of the Los Alamos Flute Choir. If she has any time left in her day\, she is dabbling in herbology or in some art project; tie dying fabric goods\, painting\, jewelry\, paper and metal craft. Sterling lives in White Rock\, NM with her husband Bill\, three dogs and three cats…never a dull moment in their home. \nThis class is free to supporting members of Ardantane. DESCRIPTION:From Krampus to Elf on a Shelf\, Victor Gibbs will present a discussion of the various Yuletide characters who have been seen lurking behind Jolly Saint Nick. \nVictor Gibbs has been a devotee of Paganism since the early 1980s. He grew up in Los Alamos\, spending a lot of time alone in White Rock Canyon. He moved to Las Cruces\, NM in 1983\, where he spent a lot of time climbing in the Organ Mountains. He has studied a wide variety of pagan beliefs\, including Sumerian and Ecclasian covens. He is active in the local CUUPs chapter in Las Cruces\, and is a long time organizer with Las Cruces Pagan Pride Day.  Victor is an archaeologist and avid photographer. \nThis class is free to supporting members of Ardantane. DESCRIPTION:How is relationship with your body – your partner for life?  What do you enjoy about your body? What things do you find challenging? Aging is inevitable\, so our future will likely bring more challenges. Tired of platitudes? Come spend quality time with your body\, as we learn from our bodies and each other\, and likely come away with some new insights. We’ll do some journaling\, so please have pen and paper handy and some space to stand and move. \nOne of the many things Dr Jude Harrison\, MD appreciates about Pagan Spirituality is inclusion and celebration of our bodies and our sexuality. He’s been privileged to work with people and their bodies from the first week of medical school to retirement 56 years later. After completing a four-year experiential certification training and supervision through the Center for Mind Body Medicine he led body centered mind-body skills groups with his patients for 6 years while group movement space was still available in his office.  Jude’s lived in his body for 70 years. SUMMARY:Yule Traditions
DESCRIPTION:As part of our Ardantane Sabbat series\, Ardantane faculty members Amber K and Azrael Arynn K will lead us on a journey through the many traditions associated with the Winter Solstice\, as known as Yule. \nAmber K is a third degree priestess of the Wiccan faith. She was initiated at the Temple of the Pagan Way in Chicago and served on the Council of Elders there. Her books on magick and the Craft have been widely circulated in the United States and Europe\, and for 35 years she has traveled across the U.S. teaching the Craft. She has worked with Circle and the Re-Formed Congregation of the Goddess\, and served as National First Officer of the Covenant of the Goddess for three terms. She is a founder of Our Lady of the Woods and the Ladywood Tradition of Wicca\, and currently is Executive Director of Ardantane\, a Wiccan/Pagan seminary is northern New Mexico. \nAzrael Arynn K is a third-degree Wiccan Priestess and High Priest of the Coven of Our Lady of the Woods\, and has also held offices in the Covenant of the Goddess. She is both Facilities Director and Dean of the School of Sacred Living at Ardantane Pagan Learning Center. She co-authors books on the Craft with Amber K\, and travels and teaches widely throughout the United States. \nThis class is free to supporting members of Ardantane. Others must register below.
