DESCRIPTION:What is sacred jewelry? Where do I find it? Can I make my own? Can I assign a piece I buy or already own as sacred? Sterling will introduce her class to the wonderful\, colorful\, and free form world of sacred jewelry making. Topics covered will include defining what is sacred jewelry\, how and where to acquire materials or ready-made pieces\, simple steps in crafting your own jewelry\, and the consecration of your sacred pieces. The class will end with show and tell\, so please ‘bring: a piece or two of jewelry you hold near and dear to you. You may even want to have a drawing pad and colored pencils on hand to scratch out your design ideas. Please join Sterling and the Ardantane gang for a creative and crafty look into spirituality! \nTracey Speyrer\, aka Sterling\, is a member of Our Lady of the Woods (OLW) in White Rock\, New Mexico. Sterling grew up with an eclectic spiritual mother who encouraged her exploration of different religious views and their programs. She self dedicated to the Wiccan tradition in 1996 while leading a very private pagan life. Wiccan philosophy best fit her spiritual needs. In 2021\, Sterling found OLW through their Wicca 101 class. Currently\, she has achieved First Degree. \nSterling has a BA in Psychology for the University of Colorado Denver and a MS in Occupational Health and Safety from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. She also has extensive Master’s work in cognitive behavior\, addiction recovery and psychological counseling. Currently\, Sterling is a Health Physicist at Los Alamos National Laboratory. She has worked within the Department of Energy (DOE) complex\, at five major sites across the county\, for 41 years at various jobs supporting nuclear weapons production. \nAside from studying and practicing Wicca\, Sterling is an accomplished horticulturalist with credentials from the American Rose Society (judge and consulting rosarian). She is an active amateur musician\, playing piccolo\, flute and alto flute with the Los Alamos Symphony Orchestra\, The Los Alamos Community Winds\, and leads the merry group of the Los Alamos Flute Choir. If she has any time left in her day\, she is dabbling in herbology or in some art project; tie dying fabric goods\, painting\, jewelry\, paper and metal craft. Sterling lives in White Rock\, NM with her husband Bill\, three dogs and three cats…never a dull moment in their home. \nThis class is free to supporting members of Ardantane. Some of Ardantane’s very best\, most experienced faculty will share techniques for creating great learning experiences. Among many topics: Where to Begin Class Design; The Importance of Hooks; Teaching to Three Levels of Self\, Participatory and Experiential Learning Activities; Sensing and Using Energy; Working with Visual\, Auditory\, and Kinesthetic Learners; Beyond Knowledge to Skills and Attitudes\, and Behaviors; and much\, much more. Led by Amber K\, who spent her career as a trainer for many government agencies and corporate entities\, she always aims to make courses fun\, student-centered\, and informative. \nThis is an all day program\, starting at 9AM and ending at 5PM. with a break for lunch. \nOne past student said\, “I have a Master’s in Teaching\, but learned more from this class about HOW to teach than I ever did in school!” \nREGISTER BELOW. DESCRIPTION:Ancient Pagan temples were often very different from today’s mainstream-faith churches\, mosques\, synagogues. They were places to learn the Mysteries\, sacrifice to the old gods\, and even meet deity face-to-face. They also served as sanctuaries\, libraries\, and even treasuries. To modern Pagans accustomed to meeting in living rooms or backyards\, they often seem vast and otherworldly.  We will explore temples from the first known\, Gobekli Tepe in Anatolia\, to the Wat Samphran Dragon Temple\, the London Mithraeum\, a Norse God House\, and many more. DESCRIPTION:Join Rowan and Lora for a discussion of The Broom Closet \nTo kick things off\, Rowan will share a fun quiz to help you determine if you are in or out of the Broom Closet\, and discuss where you want to be on the delicate issue of how\, or if\, to be a public witch.  As with many things in the craft\, there is no right answer\, only thoughtful alternatives. \nLora Jackson has been a practicing Wiccan for 35 years. She is a professional archaeologist\, professor of anthropology\, artist and writer. She has led numerous public rituals in southern New Mexico and conducted workshops and classes on developing connections with Celtic Goddesses and Gods\, stone magick\, and magickal correspondences\, and led many guided meditations. \nRowan has been active in the pagan community of northern New Mexico for over 35 years.  She is a third degree initiate of the Ladywoods tradition and currently serves as the Dean of the School of Magick and Witchcraft at Ardantane.  In her mundane life\, she holds a BS in education from UT El Paso\, and an MBA from UNM.  She has taught at festivals in New Mexico and Colorado and nationally\, but enjoys teaching at Ardantane the most. \nThis class is free to supporting members of Ardantane.
