SUMMARY:McMartin Preschool Case
DESCRIPTION:The McMartin Preschool Case took place at the height of the Satanic Panic of the 1980’s and was the most expensive trial ever conducted by the State of California. Outlandish claims of Satanic rituals\, child sacrifice and secret tunnels not only drove McMartin’s preschool out of business\, it sent several innocent people to prison and traumatized more than one of the children involved. Join Rowan for an overview of this modern day witch hunt\, its root causes and tragic outcome. \nRowan has been active in the pagan community of northern New Mexico for over 35 years. She is a third degree initiate of the Ladywoods tradition and currently serves as the Dean of the School of Magick and Witchcraft at Ardantane. In her mundane life\, she holds a BS in education from UT El Paso\, and an MBA from UNM. She has taught at festivals in New Mexico and Colorado and nationally\, but enjoys teaching at Ardantane the most. \nThis class is free to supporting members of Ardantane. Others must register below. Be sure to add the number of tickets you want before clicking the Blue GET TICKETS button. The fee is $10. \nRegistration closes at 5PM Mountain Time on Thursday\, February 22nd.

SUMMARY:The Roots of Celtic Neopaganism: How The Irish Saved Civilization
DESCRIPTION:Why do so many Neo Pagans consider themselves Celtic Pagans? Join us for an evening where we explore topics that help us understand the influence of the Celts on Paganism today. We will look at topics like the ancient Irish Celts\, Patrick and the coming of Christianity\, and Irish Celtic stories. \nLarissa Gibbs has been a practicing neo-pagan since she was a teenager. She did a self dedication at the age of 16 and has never looked back. Over the years\, Larissa has practiced as a solitary pagan\, as well as worked with two covens\, and with her family coven. She was the coordinator for the children’s realm of the Las Cruces Pagan Pride Day event for maybe five years. In 2011\, she became one of the founding members of Desert Spirit CUUPS at the Las Cruces New Mexico Unitarian Universalist Church where she continues to serve as ritual coordinator. She is also a longstanding member and contributor to the Las Cruces-based\, women’s spirituality group\, Moonsisters. \nLarissa has a BS in biology\, worked as a research biologist for 10 years and now teaches high school biology. She finds that one of the most profound truths in biology is the universal genetic code of life. Scientifically we know that all life is genetically related\, spiritually we can feel at one with all life on Earth. Larissa also looks to history and archaeology to understand past and present human belief systems. Marija Gimbutas’ work with neolithic and Mesolithic imagery and megalithic mounds is very informative for Larissa as well. Larissa feels that science informs our world view and paganism gives us a way to contextualize our place in the world. \nThis class is free to supporting members of Ardantane. Others must register below. Be sure to add the number of tickets you want before clicking the Blue GET TICKETS button. The fee is $10. \nRegistration closes at 5PM Mountain Time on Thursday\, February 15th.

SUMMARY:Pagans in the Workplace
DESCRIPTION:Have you ever wondered what rights you have as a pagan employee? This session will focus on your legal rights\, discriminatory practices you might encounter on the job\, and how to address them. We will also explore how to help your workplace become a more inclusive place for people of all beliefs. \nTara Kiene (she/her) is an active Ardantane student and teacher. In her mundane life\, she is the President and CEO of a nonprofit serving people with disabilities. With a staff averaging 100 employees\, she supports the identities of people from all walks of life\, balancing empathy and inclusion with the realities of employment law. Outside of work\, she’s a member of the Colorado Crow Women coven when she isn’t strumming her ukulele\, writing silly novels\, or playing with her pet rabbits. \nThis class is free to supporting members of Ardantane. Others must register below. Be sure to add the number of tickets you want before clicking the Blue GET TICKETS button. The fee is $10. \nRegistration closes at 5PM Mountain Time on Thursday\, January 18th.

SUMMARY:Coyote Tales
DESCRIPTION:A coyote is the American “song dog” who has spread all over the United States and beyond; but Coyote\, or Old Man Coyote\, is a teacher\, trickster\, and culture hero of the American Southwest. Several Native American tribes tell his stories\, depicting Coyote as wise\, curious\, bawdy\, adventurous\, reckless\, and sometimes devious. Amber is not Native American\, and cannot provide any special tribal understanding of this enigmatic figure. She can only share some of the stories and her individual perspective\, from having studied and worked with Coyote for several years. But she believes he has a lot to teach to anyone of any culture\, if we are ready to listen. \nAmber K is a third degree priestess of the Wiccan faith. She was initiated at the Temple of the Pagan Way in Chicago and served on the Council of Elders there. SUMMARY:Embracing Our Bodies
DESCRIPTION:How is relationship with your body – your partner for life?  What do you enjoy about your body? What things do you find challenging? Aging is inevitable\, so our future will likely bring more challenges. Tired of platitudes? Come spend quality time with your body\, as we learn from our bodies and each other\, and likely come away with some new insights. We’ll do some journaling\, so please have pen and paper handy and some space to stand and move. \nOne of the many things Dr Jude Harrison\, MD appreciates about Pagan Spirituality is inclusion and celebration of our bodies and our sexuality. He’s been privileged to work with people and their bodies from the first week of medical school to retirement 56 years later. After completing a four-year experiential certification training and supervision through the Center for Mind Body Medicine he led body centered mind-body skills groups with his patients for 6 years while group movement space was still available in his office.  Jude’s lived in his body for 70 years. Gender transition at age 60 brought some interesting facets to his own relationship with his body. \n  \nThis class is free to supporting members of Ardantane. Others must register below. Be sure to add the number of tickets you want before clicking the Blue GET TICKETS button. The fee is $10. \nRegistration closes at 5PM Mountain Time on Thursday\, December 7th.

SUMMARY:Online Rituals
DESCRIPTION:Moonbeam Mage is inviting you: During the recent Teaching Intensive class Ardantane held online\, I heard several people asking about on-line rituals for Sabbats/Moon Phases or as we feel so moved. I would like folks who are interested in discussing the whys and why-nots\, the possibilities and the yeah-buts as well as their own knowledge of interest in or experience with online rituals\, to gather for this seminar. With an intention of realizing a prevailing perspective among interested parties\, we will then be prepared to decide: to offer on-line rituals\, or not to offer them. \nMoonbeam Mage caught a glimpse of the path that might be some twenty-five years ago. Fifteen years ago she heard herself asserting that she was on that path\, and has solidly placed one foot after the other upon it since. In 2010 she found Ardantane and began her pursuit of all that formal training in the Craft could offer. In 2014\, she received the Ardantane Level Three\, Master of Magick and Witchcraft Certificate. She is also a third degree initiate of the Ladywood tradition of the Craft. \n\nThis class is free to supporting members of Ardantane.  Others must register below. Be sure to add the number of tickets you want before clicking the Blue GET TICKETS button. The fee is $10. Registration closes at 5PM Mountain Time on Thursday\, November 9th. \n\n

SUMMARY:Identifying Poisonous Plants: How to Avoid Poisoning Yourself or Others
DESCRIPTION:Can you tell the difference between Queen Anne’s Lace and poison hemlock? Should you be concerned if your neighbor’s toddler nibbles on the Lily of the Valley growing in your yard? Just how much nutmeg is a fatal dose? How many apple seeds give you a fatal dose of cyanide? \nEmber will answer these questions\, and others\, while also providing information about which common ornamentals are toxic\, what medicinal plants require caution\, and she includes some antidotes as well as bonus material on other poisons. \nWhile the focus is on identifying poisonous plants so you don’t harm yourself or others\, Ember will also offer a brief introduction to the magickal correspondences found along the poison path. \nEmber has had a special interest in plants and herbal medicine all of her life. It started with her five-year-old self eating dandelions and tasting milkweed. Important reminder: supervise your children! Since then\, she has spent the past 50 years studying medicinal herbs\, making salves and tinctures\, and identifying as many plants as she can. \nThis class is free to supporting members of Ardantane. Others must register below. Be sure to add the number of tickets you want before clicking the Blue GET TICKETS button. The fee is $10.
