SUMMARY:Your Special Place at Home
DESCRIPTION:Dens\, home offices\, She Sheds\, Man Caves\, mini-sanctuaries… everyone needs a place where they can escape daily demands (and families or roommates) and pursue arts\, crafts\, and hobbies… or read quietly… or just chill and dream. Do you have such a place? What’s it like? What do you do there? Could it be even better? How could you create one\, for yourself or a family member? Are there “do’s and don’ts\,” or house rules? Let’s share. Discussion led by Amber K\, who achieved the dream. \nAmber K is a third degree priestess of the Wiccan faith. SUMMARY:Take Back the Night: Pagan Skies
DESCRIPTION:The constellations that we are taught about in Western culture and which are used in Western astrology are an amalgam of Greek\, Roman\, Arabic\, and Latin influences which were recognized by colonial powers and represent the Northern hemisphere. The constellations that came to be used in the Southern hemisphere are largely a display of the scientific achievements of European colonial powers and some wildlife they found interesting. Both entirely ignore the sky cultures of indigenous people around the world. In the late 16th and early 17th century attempts were made by several astronomers who were Christian clergy to completely erase the sky and replace it with an entirely Christian sky. This didn’t succeed partially because the various clergy involved could not agree on the elements of these skies and partially because the principal astronomers of the day were busy creating constellations in honor of their royal sponsors. Colonial powers created systems such as the Residential Schools which partnered with the church to eliminate indigenous language and culture\, resulting in many sky cultures being lost\, in some cases permanently.\n\nWe know that the ancestors of our Heathen brothers and sisters were great navigators yet due to this corrosive colonial activity much of their sky lore has been lost. Very little is known about Celtic skies except bits and pieces that have come down through translations of translations of verbal lore\, although discovery of the Coligny calendar has given us some pieces to work with.\n\nThe World Asterisms Project is a living project which I founded in June 2021 for the Inclusivity and Diversity Committee of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada as a celebration of the sky cultures of the world: It continues to grow as the process of naming the stars above is an ongoing process. It is also growing as ethnoastronomers and researchers investigate old records and interview elders and recover previously lost sky cultures. The World Asterisms Project has so far examined over 580 of the world’s cultures and recorded 15\,229 asterisms and 1\,633 names of the Sun\, Moon\, and Planets.\nKerr Cuhulain is the Grand Master and founder of a Wiccan order of Knighthood called the Order of Paladins\, now based in Sechelt\, British Columbia. The Order of Paladins embraces the Warrior philosophies\, precepts and code of chivalry outlined in Kerr’s books. The Order of Paladins is a study group for people interested in Wiccan magick\, energy work and rituals related to the Warrior path\, focusing on empowerment\, personal development and creative expression. The training focuses on the effective use of magickal energy and developing psychic skills. The Order of Paladins is constantly developing new rituals\, and magick and studying our Warrior philosophy. Our members are spread across the globe and connect through local preceptories and on line. All members are expected to participate and contribute. \n\nThis class is free to supporting members of Ardantane.  Others must register below. Be sure to add the number of tickets you want before clicking the Blue GET TICKETS button. The fee is $10. \n\n\nRegistration closes at 5PM Mountain Time on Thursday\, November 28th.

SUMMARY:The Witch Trials in Abiquiu\, NM
DESCRIPTION:A little-studied witchcraft trial took place at Abiquiu\, New Mexico\, between 1756 and 1766.  The witchcraft outbreak took place less than a century after the Pueblo Revolt and symbolized a resistance by the Genízaros (hispanicized Indians) of Abiquiu to forced Christianization. The response of the Church and the Spanish government stand in sharp contrast to the pattern set in Salem 150 years earlier.  We will examine the unique history of this tiny New Mexico village\, the nature of the accusations made and the response of the Spanish colonial governor and the Church. \nRowan has been active in the pagan community of northern New Mexico for over 35 years.  She is a third degree initiate of the Ladywoods tradition and currently serves as the Dean of the School of Magick and Witchcraft at Ardantane.  In her mundane life\, she holds a BS in education from UT El Paso\, and an MBA from UNM.  She has taught at festivals in New Mexico and Colorado and nationally\, but enjoys teaching at Ardantane the most. \nThis online class is free to supporting members of Ardantane. SUMMARY:Resting in the Nurturing Energies of Earth
DESCRIPTION:Following a spiritual path based upon nature involves living with the seasons. Each has its own energy flows\, and when we pay attention to them\, we can work with the prevailing energy rather than against it. We’ve explored the new growth of Spring\, the fullness of the energy of Summer\, and the bounty and reflection of Fall. Now it is time to go within and go deep\, gestating what will come next\, in the warm embrace of the Earth Mother. Come and explore the energies of Winter. \nPolaris is a third degree Wiccan Priestess in the Ladywoods Tradition and a Magister in the Order of Paladins. She has been drawn to the natural cycles of the world from a young age and a practicing Pagan since the early 1990s. As a business consultant in the mundane world\, she integrates the natural cyclical energies into her work with clients\, helping them utilize the prevailing energies and work with those flows rather than struggling against them. \n\nThis class is free to supporting members of Ardantane.  Others must register below. Be sure to add the number of tickets you want before clicking the Blue GET TICKETS button. The fee is $10. \n\n\nRegistration closes at 5PM Mountain Time on Thursday\, November 14th.

SUMMARY:Egyptian Religion and Magick: Why it is not compatible with Wicca
DESCRIPTION:Egypt is always a popular subject. Many pagans enjoy working with and even identify with some of the Egyptian deities. There is even a practice known as Egyptian Wicca. There is\, however\, a huge problem. This is a case of East meets West\, and the transition is not always compatible. Learn about Ancient Egyptian Religion and Magick and how it was (according to reliable scholars) in the days of antiquity. Maybe even discover what is not being done today to merge two opposing cultures in today’s pagan climate. We will scratch the surface to a mystical realm not always understood in modern terms. \n\nThis class is free to supporting members of Ardantane.  Others must register below. Be sure to add the number of tickets you want before clicking the Blue GET TICKETS button. The fee is $10. \n\n\nRegistration closes at 5PM Mountain Time on Thursday\, October 17th.

SUMMARY:Labyrinth Day 2024
DESCRIPTION:DATE CHANGED TO OCTOBER 12\nFrom the island of Crete\, to Britain\, to Norway and the American Southwest\, humans have created labyrinths for millennia. Now you can help build one too! Join us at Ardantane’s Labyrinth Day on Saturday\, October 5 from 9am to 4 pm at the Ardantane Campus NW of Albuquerque. \nTogether we’ll explore the history and uses of labyrinths around the world\, and how to design and draw one. Then we’ll actually build one: Ardantane’s third\, in a unique design different from our first two. \nThe event is FREE of charge\, and open to all adults\, and teens accompanied by parents.  \nThe schedule includes a workshop first thing; then we’ll move stones to the site and draw the design on the ground. After a lunch break\, we’ll place stones to mark the path\, then have a short ritual of dedication. Then… walk the new labyrinth and\, if you wish\, share your experience over a cold drink! \nEvery participant gets a free labyrinth emblem. \nThe lunch is potluck: bring a dish to share! During the rest of the day\, refreshments and beverages will be provided by Ardantane. We have work gloves to loan. Please bring a sun hat and folding chair\, if you have one. \nThough there is no charge\, for planning purposes we would love to know how many are coming. Contact info@ardantane.org with the number in your party\, and to get directions. Thanks!   \nSee you at the labyrinth!

Their healing and transformational energies are available to us all now on an even more expanded scale\, due to increased activities in Ley Lines and the Planetary Grid. What they have to tell us can propel our evolution. \nMonica Devi Bhakti is an Empath\, Intuitive Energy Reader\, Soul Coach\, Psychic Therapist\, Somatic Healer and Transformational Retreat Leader. She has traveled to many of the great Stones Circles in England and Ireland and led others on retreats and in ceremonies to experience their incredible power. \n  \n  \n  \n  \nSteve Wilson\, MA\, LP\, LPC is a Psychologist in Durango\, CO specializing in Trauma\, Anxiety\, and Psychedelic Integration. SUMMARY:The Bardic Way: Sharing the Stories\, Shaping the World
DESCRIPTION:What comes to mind when you think of the Bardic Tradition? Is it a soulful-looking medieval youth strumming thoughtfully on a lute? Maybe it’s William Shakespeare\, the “Bard of Stratford-on-Avon” that you imagine. Or it might be a mighty warrior-bard like the fictional Gurney Halleck from “Dune”\, or the very non-fictional Hindi Charan bards of Rajasthani\, composing songs of brave deeds while riding fearlessly into battle and witnessing them first-hand. \nThe Bard manifests in many forms\, across many world cultures and eras. In this seminar we will briefly cast an academic gaze over the broad scope of Bardic history and lore in diverse civilizations. We will then begin to explore the manifestation of the Bardic tradition in our Pagan and Wiccan communities\, our circles and rituals\, and our festivals of the seasons. And through our exploration\, we will settle on the common thread\, the central element of the Way of the Bard – the stories. \nCome prepared for a highly interactive examination of the archetype of the Bard and its aspects\, to look deeply into the power that flows through our personal and collective stories\, and to consider how that power may be raised and directed to healing our communities and shaping a brighter future and a more magickal world! \nDavid Troxel (he\, him) has been a practicing Wiccan for 30 years\, a Pagan in spirit for twice that\, and is a lifelong hand drummer and singer of the stories. He is an initiate in the West Coast Eclectic tradition through the Circle of the Winter Moon and has led numerous ritual circles in the Four Corners community. David also served on the Ardantane board of directors in the early days\, and recalls tramping happily around the local deserts and mountainsides with the founders\, looking for a home for this wonderful institution! \nDavid has since taken a Master’s degree in Conflict Resolution and traded the beautiful New Mexico desert for the rugged coastline and redwood forests of northern California\, where he practices family mediation in the state Superior Court for Humboldt County. \n\nThis class is free to supporting members of Ardantane.  Others must register below. Be sure to add the number of tickets you want before clicking the Blue GET TICKETS button. The fee is $10. \n\n\nRegistration closes at 5PM Mountain Time on Thursday\, September 26th.

SUMMARY:Mabon Ritual Online
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate the autumnal equinox with our online Mabon ritual\, a virtual gathering where we honor the balance between light and dark. Join us as we create sacred space from the comfort of your home\, guided by the gentle transition of the seasons. Through guided meditation\, reflection\, and rituals of gratitude\, we embrace the harvest and prepare for introspection. Together\, we weave intentions for harmony and renewal into the tapestry of the turning year. Embrace the spirit of Mabon with us\, and let the energy of the equinox inspire your journey ahead. \nLora Jackson Legare has been a practicing Wiccan for 35 years.
