Fifteen years ago she heard herself asserting that she was on that path\, and has solidly placed one foot after the other upon it since. SUMMARY:Coyote Tales
DESCRIPTION:A coyote is the American “song dog” who has spread all over the United States and beyond; but Coyote\, or Old Man Coyote\, is a teacher\, trickster\, and culture hero of the American Southwest. Several Native American tribes tell his stories\, depicting Coyote as wise\, curious\, bawdy\, adventurous\, reckless\, and sometimes devious. Amber is not Native American\, and cannot provide any special tribal understanding of this enigmatic figure. She can only share some of the stories and her individual perspective\, from having studied and worked with Coyote for several years. But she believes he has a lot to teach to anyone of any culture\, if we are ready to listen. \nAmber K is a third degree priestess of the Wiccan faith. She was initiated at the Temple of the Pagan Way in Chicago and served on the Council of Elders there. Her books on magick and the Craft have been widely circulated in the United States and Europe\, and for 35 years she has traveled across the U.S. teaching the Craft. She has worked with Circle and the Re-Formed Congregation of the Goddess\, and served as National First Officer of the Covenant of the Goddess for three terms. She is a founder of Our Lady of the Woods and the Ladywood Tradition of Wicca\, and currently is Executive Director of Ardantane\, a Wiccan/Pagan seminary is northern New Mexico. \nThis class is free to supporting members of Ardantane. This session will focus on your legal rights\, discriminatory practices you might encounter on the job\, and how to address them. We will also explore how to help your workplace become a more inclusive place for people of all beliefs. \nTara Kiene (she/her) is an active Ardantane student and teacher. In her mundane life\, she is the President and CEO of a nonprofit serving people with disabilities. With a staff averaging 100 employees\, she supports the identities of people from all walks of life\, balancing empathy and inclusion with the realities of employment law. Outside of work\, she’s a member of the Colorado Crow Women coven when she isn’t strumming her ukulele\, writing silly novels\, or playing with her pet rabbits. \nThis class is free to supporting members of Ardantane. SUMMARY:Sheela Na Gigs of Ireland
DESCRIPTION:What are Sheela Na Gigs\, when and where were they placed? Were they obscene or were they goddesses? Let’s examine the history of these fascinating figures\, astronomical symbolism\, their cultural and archaeological significance\, and where they are now. \nLarissa Gibbs has been a practicing neo-pagan since she was a teenager. She did a self dedication at the age of 16 and has never looked back. Over the years\, Larissa has practiced as a solitary pagan\, as well as worked with two covens\, and with her family coven. She was the coordinator for the children’s realm of the Las Cruces Pagan Pride Day event for maybe five years. In 2011\, she became one of the founding members of Desert Spirit CUUPS at the Las Cruces New Mexico Unitarian Universalist Church where she continues to serve as ritual coordinator. She is also a longstanding member and contributor to the Las Cruces-based\, women’s spirituality group\, Moonsisters.  \nLarissa has a BS in biology\, worked as a research biologist for 10 years and now teaches high school biology. She finds that one of the most profound truths in biology is the universal genetic code of life. Scientifically we know that all life is genetically related\, spiritually we can feel at one with all life on Earth. Larissa also looks to history and archaeology to understand past and present human belief systems. Marija Gimbutas’ work with neolithic and Mesolithic imagery and megalithic mounds is very informative for Larissa as well. Larissa feels that science informs our world view and paganism gives us a way to contextualize our place in the world. \nThis class is free to supporting members of Ardantane.
