SUMMARY:Volunteer Work Day August
DESCRIPTION:Contribute your energy\, time\, and talents to the upkeep of our beautiful campus near Jemez Springs\, New Mexico. We work from 8:00 or 9:00 AM\, depending on the season… starting earlier in summer\, later in winter. We begin with a simple opening ceremony\, and end sometime in the afternoon\, usually around 4:00 PM—but you can come at any time during the day. (Some folks do special projects at other times\, to fit their personal schedules\, by arrangement with the Director.)  \nVolunteers who work a “full” day—six hours or more—receive $40 in Beaver Bucks (applicable to any Ardantane event fee). Those who work 3-4 hours receive $20 in Beaver Bucks. First-timers are awarded the Blessed Beaver patch (embroidered emblem) to wear proudly on a cap or work shirt. Everyone receives free lunch and beverages\, as well as healthy exercise and camaraderie.  \nBring your sun hat and work gloves (we have loaners if you need them).  \nContact Azrael Arryn K at azraelak@gmail.com for directions and information. DESCRIPTION:Our planet\, our Earth\, our home. What great challenges face our seas\, our soil\, our wildlife\, our forests\, farmlands\, and skies? How are people acting worldwide to stop the destruction and heal the planet? \nJoin us for an enriching exploration into the ancient wisdom of Pagan beliefs and practices\, centered around healing our planet in the face of modern challenges. In this workshop\, we will delve into practices that honor the Earth as a living entity and seek to restore balance and harmony on our beloved planet. \nAmber K is a third degree priestess of the Wiccan faith. She was initiated at the Temple of the Pagan Way in Chicago and served on the Council of Elders there. Her books on magick and the Craft have been widely circulated in the United States and Europe\, and for 35 years she has traveled across the U.S. teaching the Craft. She has worked with Circle and the Re-Formed Congregation of the Goddess\, and served as National First Officer of the Covenant of the Goddess for three terms. DESCRIPTION:September 30\, 2024 \nRowan has been doing some research for next spring’s class\, The History of Witchcraft and has come across a very interesting book\, Witchcraft: A  History in Thirteen Trials\, by Marion Gibson\, Rose Akroyd et al. \nFrom the Amazon review: \n“Exploring how witchcraft was feared\, then decriminalized\, and then reimagined as gendered persecution\, Witchcraft takes on the intersections between gender and power\, indigenous spirituality and colonial rule\, political conspiracy and individual resistance. \nOffering a striking\, dramatic journey unspooling over centuries and across continents\, Witchcraft is a “well-rounded insight into some of the strangest and cruelest moments in history” (Buzz Magazine)\, giving voice to those who have been silenced by history.” \nCome join Rowan for an interesting discussion of several of the lesser known witch trials in Europe and the Americas\, and new insights into some of the famous ones. \nRowan has been active in the pagan community of northern New Mexico for over 35 years. She is a third degree initiate of the Ladywoods tradition and currently serves as the Dean of the School of Magick and Witchcraft at Ardantane. In her mundane life\, she holds a BS in education from UT El Paso\, and an MBA from UNM.
