it is practically impossible to get through high school English class without reading Shirley Jackson’s chilling classic, The Lottery. She’s also the author of some of the scariest novels every committed to paper, including The Haunting of Hill House, We Have Always Lived in the Castle and many others.
But where did she get her ideas? What was her inner life like? Join Rowan to explore some hints from her life and work that she may have been a witch before witchcraft was cool.
Rowan is very fond of asking odd questions about the history and practice of witchcraft, and this is one of those classes. She was an English major in college, and was hoping to figure out how to read books for a living. That didn’t work out, and she figured out another way to support herself. But reading remains her first love. Join her to explore the biography and work of an author who may have also been a witch at heart.
This class is free to supporting members of Ardantane. Others must register below. Be sure to add the number of tickets you want before clicking the Blue GET TICKETS button. The fee is $10.
